ABOUT ME

Melissa Castro was born and raised in Chula Vista, a suburb of San Diego, CA and later moved to San Francisco to pursue her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography at the Academy of Art. Her interest in photographing architecture began among the eclectic structures of San Diego, photographing the unique details of buildings and freeway overpasses.
Melissa has been working on an on-going architectural project entitled “City Series,” taken in metropolitan cities throughout the U.S. including San Diego, Los Angeles, Seattle, Portland and New York City. The “City Series” emphasizes design, and the relationship of the structures to the viewer.
When she's not taking photographs, Melissa teaches Photoshop at the Academy of Art to aspiring photography students. She currently lives in Pacifica with her husband Randy, and two cats, Spike and Leeloo, and is happy to live so close to the beach again.
